Pojagi

My newest textile obsession is Pojagi, patchwork wrapping from Korea.  It's absolutely stunning and feels very modern and Mondrian'esque.  I've started an intense search to find a source still making this.  Any thoughts or leads send them my way! (all images from Sri Threads)

Doors of Cuzco

The best editorial I've ever seen.  Kasia Struss shot by Mario Testino for Vogue Paris April 2013.

Quotable

I know, yeah, yeah, yeah...now is now, live in the moment, blah, blah, blah.  Seriously, though I actually feel what that means now.  I'm not preparing to live the life I want to live. It's happening right now. No do-overs. Just do.

Happy Weekend! (image from here)

Tassels

Proud Mary has long been an advocate for tassels. I consistently use them to embellish our pillows and bags so when I discovered these amazing tassel earrings from my friend's Instagram feed the other day I freaked out.  They're so great and thankfully I'll be carrying them in the Proud Mary Market come May.  They're made by a friend of mine living in Shanghai.  She has impeccable style, is the author of the popular Shanghai Style File blog, and is launching a line of the most incredible jackets I have ever seen this Fall (more on that later).

This is Congo

A few months ago I donated some money to support a documentary film, This is Congo, on Kickstarter. I've been so busy the past few months that I've passed over their email updates on the project until today.  The film is now being supported by Worldview and is going into post-production thanks to their funding.  It's such a powerful, inspiring project that really put things into perspective for me this morning.  It always comes at the right time, doesn't it?  The situation in the Congo is so complex and incredibly interesting to me.  Tribal issues, colonial history, and resources have plagued this stunningly beautiful country for a very long time.  The best thing, seemingly, about this film is that it doesn't try to oversimplify the issues in the Congo but to educate the world about the many, complexities of the situation.  Very excited to see this.   (images from This is Congo website)

New Proud Mary Collection

So proud of this collection. Proud Mary is now working in 5 countries; Niger, Morocco, Peru, Guatemala, and Mali with 12 cooperatives, and over 100 artisans.  So amazing to be able to support these communities and for them to share with us their incredible talents.  I'm constantly in awe!  Something else I'm in awe over are these photographs and model we used for this shoot. Olivia Rae James took some beautiful photos and Dulaan (from XBB in Charleston) could not have been more stunning. Thanks ladies!  Check out our shop here!
